Privacy policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026. This is an English translation of our Spanish privacy policy; if they ever differ, the Spanish version prevails.

At Holymod we collect as little data as possible. You don’t need to sign up or give us any data to use Holyfix or read our pages. Here we explain what data we process, why, and how you can exercise your rights.

Data controller

The owner of holymod.com (trading name Holymod), as stated in the legal notice. For any privacy question, use our contact form (reason “Other reason”).

What data we process and why

1. Visit statistics (only if you accept them)

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (through Google Tag Manager) to learn how many people visit us, which pages interest them and where they come from. Browsing data is collected (pages viewed, clicks on download links, searches on the site, approximate country or region, device type and browser), linked to a random identifier stored in a cookie. Google Analytics 4 doesn’t store your full IP address.

  • Legal basis: your consent. If you reject it, these cookies aren’t set and no identifying data is sent. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
  • Provider: Google Ireland Limited, acting as data processor. Google may transfer data to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
  • Retention: 14 months.
  • Advertising: we don’t use advertising cookies or share data for advertising purposes.

2. Mod ratings

When you rate a mod, to avoid duplicate votes we keep for 30 days an irreversible code calculated from your IP address and the mod page. Your IP can’t be recovered from that code. Your browser also remembers in its local storage that you’ve already voted.

  • Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping ratings reliable.

3. Contact form and reports

If you write to us or report a problem, we process the data you give us (name or company, email, affected page and description), plus the date, IP address and browser you send it from, as a record of the report received.

  • Purpose: replying to you and handling the report, including removing content that infringes rights.
  • Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering your request and compliance with the legal obligations of information society service providers.
  • Retention: the IP and browser are deleted automatically after 12 months. The rest is kept for as long as needed to handle the report and any claims.

4. Technical server data

Like any website, the server logs technical data for each visit (IP address, date, page requested and browser) to work and to protect itself from attacks. These logs are only used for technical and security purposes and are deleted periodically.

  • Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and available.

5. Holyfix mod analyzer

The log file you load into the Holyfix mod analyzer (for example, game.log.txt) is read in your browser and is not sent to Holymod or anyone else.

When the diagnosis is done, we ask whether you want to send us anonymous statistics. It’s optional: if you don’t accept, nothing is sent, and we remember your choice in your browser. If you accept, we only send: the game and its version, the list of active mods (their Steam Workshop number or file name), the error types for each one, how many were outdated and whether the game closed normally. We never send the file, folder paths, your user name, your IP or any text you type.

We store this as aggregated counters (for example, “37 players used this mod and in 80% of cases it threw no errors”), not as individual reports. To avoid counting the same report twice we use a code calculated from the mod list and the date, not from you or your connection, which changes every day, so it can’t identify or track you. We use it to decide which mods to add, to show compatibility data on our mod pages and to publish reports, always with at least 5 different reports per figure.

If you click “Ask us to review it” we only send that mod’s identifier; if you give us feedback, we store your answer, your comment and anonymous figures from the analysis. If you create a shareable mod list, we store the list and its title; if you enter your email, we only use it to send you the links and don’t keep it.

  • Legal basis: your consent, which you give by clicking “Send anonymously” after seeing the diagnosis and can withdraw at any time with “Stop sending them” at the end of every diagnosis.

6. Email alerts

Email alerts are currently only available on the Spanish site. If you request one, we store your email and which alerts you asked for (the game and the mod pages you follow), the date and whether you’ve confirmed it. We don’t store anything from your mod log.

  • Purpose: only to send you those alerts: when a new game version comes out and when a mod you follow confirms it’s compatible. We don’t send advertising or other newsletters.
  • Legal basis: your consent. The alert isn’t active until you click the link in the confirmation email; if you don’t, we don’t write to you.
  • Retention: while you’re subscribed. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe from everything in one click.
  • Shared with: no one. Emails are sent from our hosting provider’s server, which only delivers them.

Third-party content

Some images are loaded directly from the platforms where their author publishes them (for example, Steam, YouTube or the author’s website). When they’re shown, your browser connects to those servers, which receive your IP address. YouTube videos only load if you press play, and they use privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). When you follow a download link you leave Holymod, and that website’s own privacy policy applies.

Who we share data with

We don’t sell or transfer personal data. Only the providers we need for the website to work (hosting, and Google Analytics if you accept it) can access it, always as data processors. We’ll also provide it to the authorities when the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask to access your data, correct or delete it, object to its processing, restrict it or ask for its portability. To do so, write to us through the contact form (reason “Other reason”). If processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. If you think we haven’t handled your request properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or to the data protection authority in your country.

Minors

Holymod isn’t designed to collect data from children under 14. If you’re under that age, don’t send us personal data without your parents’ or guardians’ permission.

Changes

If we change how we process data (for example, if we add advertising), we’ll update this page and, when needed, ask for your consent again.
