What this mod does
The Ferrari 288 GTO is the first link in the supercar lineage that continued with the F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari. It was born to compete in Group B, although it never actually raced. This mod is by GTOfire, author of the 3D model, and was completed by a team of contributors.
What’s included
- Street version and a Group B upgrade stage: more turbo boost, better brakes, slick tires, adjustable final drive, wider rear fenders and a race interior.
- Physics by Felipe Vaiano and RallyLegends, aero by Mathieu Horsky and driver animations by Sovers.
- Pop-up headlights, a shift light on the Group B version and several community liveries, such as Martini, Pioneer and Alitalia.
- A 4K template in GIMP format for painting the bodywork.
Who it’s for
For anyone who wants a 1980s turbo classic, nimble but prone to oversteer under braking. The Group B version is the most fun on track.
Version
Version 1.2.6 (March 2016) fixed the tachometer scale. The car has no sound of its own: it uses Kunos’s F40 sound. The authors declared this the final version.

How to install it
- Go to the 288 GTO page on OverTake.gg and log in.
- Download the file (about 170 MB).
- Drag it into Content Manager or extract the ferrari_288gto folder to assettocorsa/content/cars.
- Look for Ferrari 288 GTO in the list and pick the street or Group B version.

Common problems
The car has no sound
On some systems the sfx/guids.txt file needs to be named GUIDs.txt; rename it.
Does it have its own sound?
No, it uses the sounds from Kunos's Ferrari F40, as the mod page states.
What does the Group B version change?
More boost, better brakes, slick tires, adjustable final drive and wider rear fenders.
