What this mod does
Faster Escort Vehicles, by Marc (Marc81), is a fix for the escort cars in the Special Transport DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. According to the author, since the latest updates the AI pilot vehicles often get stuck, block toll booths, stop at junctions or drive so slowly that they cause traffic jams.
What it changes
- Escorts can go up to 100 km/h on highways (previously 80).
- In urban areas, up to 70 km/h.
- The extra speed avoids the artificial traffic jams they used to cause.
- It’s rebuilt from scratch using the game files from version 1.60.
Requirements and version
You need the official Special Transport DLC. The author updated it for 1.60 and later and says it has been tested. It’s a tiny file, about 35 KB, and it’s the author’s first mod of this kind.
What it doesn’t fix yet
One player asked for the escort to stop braking on you when you change lanes: they say it sometimes drops from around 90 km/h to almost zero in an instant. The author replied on October 20 that they would try to look into it, but there’s no confirmed fix. The author also doesn’t mention compatibility with ProMods or other traffic mods, so test it with your own setup.

How to install it
- Open the "Faster Escort Vehicles - Special Transport Fix by Marc81" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
- Open the Mod Manager for your profile and enable "Faster Escort Vehicles - Special Transport Fix by Marc81".
- Take a special transport job to check the change.
