What this mod does
Realistic Police system, by darkestdragon24, tries to reproduce how truck speeding is actually handled in Europe. It works in Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.60 and 1.61 and is a file of barely 50 KB.
What it changes
- Patrols: they fine around 2-10 % of offenses. The author explains that in Western Europe police tend to be lenient with trucks, which are already limited to 90 km/h, and are busy with traffic and inspections.
- Speed cameras: they still catch 100 % of offenses, as in the base game.
- Amounts: adjusted to the European average, especially for speeding. They don’t depend on your level or on how many patrols are nearby.
- Accidents: a symbolic 10-euro fine, because in real life insurance covers them and in ETS2 the AI is usually to blame.
Pricier for other offenses
Skipping your mandatory rest goes up from 400 to 750 € and driving the wrong way from 100 to 400 €, because the author considers them serious offenses. One player got the rest fine several times in a row; according to the author, this also happens in the base game since 1.60.
It’s designed for roleplay-style play. The author includes it in their «Parts of Real Life Economy for ETS2» collection.

How to install it
- Open the "Realistic Police system for ETS2 1.61, 1.60+" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
- Open the Mod Manager for your profile and enable "Realistic Police system for ETS2 1.61, 1.60+".

Common problems
Does it remove fines?
No. Patrols fine you less often (2-10 %), but speed cameras stay at 100 % and some offenses cost more.
How much does an accident cost?
A symbolic 10 euros: the author argues that the real penalty is for the offense, not the crash.
Why do I get fined several times for rest?
The author says it also happens in the base game since 1.60, because of how the game spaces out fines.
