How to install mods in Farming Simulator 25

Download FS25 mods from the official ModHub or install them manually on PC without unzipping the .zip, enable them per savegame and fix errors with log.txt.

Updated: 24 Oct 2026

Farming Simulator 25 has one of the tidiest mod systems in the genre: GIANTS Software reviews the mods it publishes on its official ModHub, and you can download them from inside the game. On PC you can also install them manually. Here’s how to do it right and how to avoid the usual mistakes.

Where to download mods safely

We only recommend two sources: the official ModHub (in-game or on the Farming Simulator website) and the mod author’s own website or repository. ModHub mods go through a GIANTS review before they’re published. Sites that collect third-party mods often reupload files without permission, with old or modified versions. On holymod we always link to the official source and don’t host any files.

Installing from the in-game ModHub

  1. From the main menu, go to the downloadable content / ModHub section.
  2. Find the mod by category or name and download it. The game saves it in the right folder and lets you know if it needs other mods.
  3. When you create or load a savegame, enable it on the mod selection screen.

This is the only way on consoles (PlayStation and Xbox): there you can only use official ModHub mods downloaded from inside the game. There’s no way to copy external files.

Manual installation on PC

  1. Download the mod. It comes as a .zip file.
  2. Don’t unzip it. The game reads the .zip directly. If you extract it, it won’t show up. The exception is when the author bundles several mods together inside a larger archive: in that case you extract that outer archive to get each mod’s .zip.
  3. Copy the .zip to Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2025\mods.
  4. Don’t rename the file: the file name is part of the mod’s identity and is used by savegames and by other mods that depend on it.

If you’re coming from Farming Simulator 22, the process is identical, but the folder is Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2022\mods. FS22 mods aren’t compatible with FS25: each mod has to be made for its own version. For example, Courseplay for FS22 and Courseplay for FS25 are separate releases.

Enabling mods in each savegame

In Farming Simulator, mods are enabled per savegame, not globally. When you create a new savegame or load an existing one, the mod selection screen appears: tick the ones you want to use and continue. You can add mods to a savegame you’ve already started by loading it again and ticking them.

Removing mods from an advanced savegame is trickier: if you disable a tractor or a shed you had on your farm, those objects disappear. Back up the savegame folder before you do it.

Maps: always a new savegame

A mod map is chosen when you create the savegame. You can’t change the map of an existing savegame. If you want to play a new map, create a new savegame and select it at the map selection step. Also check whether the author lists recommended or required companion mods.

Dependencies

Some mods need others to work (shared scripts, object packs, libraries). On the ModHub, dependencies are listed and the game offers to download them. For manual installs, read the author’s description and also download whatever it asks for, from its official source. A mod with a missing dependency usually doesn’t show up or can’t be enabled.

Multiplayer

In a multiplayer session, the host or server decides which mods are used. When you join, the game tells you which mods you need and, in most cases, lets you download them. To avoid problems:

  • Everyone should use the same version of each mod. A version mismatch will stop you from joining.
  • Check that the mod is designed for multiplayer; some are flagged as single-player only.
  • On dedicated servers, mods are uploaded to the server’s mods folder following the hosting provider’s instructions.

Mods like Universal Autoload are widely used on servers; check their page for multiplayer notes.

When something goes wrong: log.txt

The game writes a log to Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2025\log.txt. After a crash, open it and look for lines with Error or Warning: they usually name the .zip of the problem mod. Common errors:

  • The mod doesn’t show up: it’s unzipped, in a different folder or made for a different version of the game.
  • Savegame won’t load after an update: a mod needs updating; disable it or wait for the author’s new version.
  • Duplicate name: you have two copies of the same mod with different names; keep only the official one.
