What this mod does
Helicorsa is an Assetto Corsa app that adds a top-down radar: your car appears in the center and nearby rivals are drawn around it with their real position and orientation. It answers a constant question in races when you play on a single screen: whether the car coming up on the inside is already overlapping you before the corner.
What it brings
- You can see at a glance who’s alongside you or in your blind spot, without triple monitors or VR.
- It works against the AI, in replays and in multiplayer, including when you’re watching another driver’s car.
- It includes a blue flag warning and uses hardly any resources.
- It works in practice, qualifying and race.
It’s especially useful in online races with lots of traffic and at race starts, where one misjudged touch ruins the race for two people.
Version and settings
The latest version is 0.7b, from October 2017. It’s old, but since it’s a simple Python app it’s still widely used. Advanced users can change the interface size and other parameters by editing the heliSettings.py file, which comes with comments.
