Virginia International Raceway for Assetto Corsa

What this mod does

Virginia International Raceway (VIR), in Alton (Virginia), is a track that hosts amateur and pro racing, driving schools and club days, and it’s known for its IMSA endurance championship race. Darren Blythe (dazzyb2k3) modeled it from scratch using several technical data sources, with help from Rigel, Arthur666 and LilSki.

Seven layouts

• Full, which reproduces the 2016 race configuration.
• Grand East and Grand West.
• North and South.
• Patriot and Patriot Reverse.

All of them work with AI, according to the mod page.

What version 1.1 brings

• Shaders reworked by LilSki for better lighting, and improved textures.
• New AI and more polished track edges.
• DRS zones: two on Full and Grand East and one on Grand West.
• A new camera set for the Full layout, plus fixes for banking, sticky walls and flickering textures.

Who it’s for

With its elevation changes and linked corners through the woods, it’s ideal for GTs and prototypes. Reviews praise the off-track detail and rank it among the best road courses in the game, although some are starting to find it dated and ask for an update. To install it manually, just extract the vir folder into content/tracks.

Requirements

• Assetto Corsa for PC
• About 230 MB of free space
• Free OverTake.gg account to download

How to install it

1. Go to the VIR page on OverTake.gg and log in.
2. Download version 1.1 (about 226 MB).
3. Drag the file into Content Manager, or extract the vir folder into assettocorsa/content/tracks.
4. Pick one of the seven layouts.
5. Set up a race against the AI; on Full and Grand East you'll get two DRS zones.
