What this mod does

Kodiak and TopKick adds two General Motors medium-duty trucks: the Chevrolet Kodiak and the GMC TopKick from model year 1997, the first with the new sloped hood. They were modeled from scratch by Maurice Randall, with Bomkat on research, testing and skins, and engine sounds by Slav Jerry.

An uncommon tractor

In real life these trucks were almost always sold as cab-chassis for work bodies, and tractor versions were rare. In the mod they come with a fifth wheel so you can hook up trailers and run short or regional deliveries.

Practical info

  • You buy them in the modded dealers section, under Chevrolet and GMC.
  • Definition IDs: chev.kodiak and gmc.topkick.
  • Released on October 4, 2026, with ATS 1.61 already out; the author doesn’t list a game version.
  • The author mentions the Allison transmission and left room for possible vertical exhaust stacks.

Good to know

One player says the 350 hp feels weak; the author puts it down to the differential ratio and the Allison transmission. It’s the first released version, so it’s worth checking the Workshop changelog before using it in a long-running save.

Common problems

Are they different trucks?

They're the Chevrolet Kodiak and the GMC TopKick, 1997 siblings that you buy separately under each brand.

Can I haul trailers?

Yes. The author set them up with a fifth wheel, although in real life they were almost always cab-chassis.

Why is it slow?

The author puts it down to the differential ratio and the Allison transmission.
