What this mod does
MrBadMae’s Engines and Transmissions expands the list of engines and transmissions for American Truck Simulator’s trucks. MrBadMae uses sounds by Kriechbaum and Slav Jerry, whom he credits, so each new engine sounds different.
What it includes
- Additional engines for Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo and Western Star trucks.
- An 18-speed transmission with retarder for the new T680, the new Cascadia and the Western Star 57X, so they don’t come up short on power.
Heads up if you already used it
On June 29, 2026 the author completely rebuilt the pack: he removed or replaced some engines. Before hitting the road, check your truck’s engine and transmission at the service shop.
Patreon version
Since July 27 there’s an expanded version available only on Patreon, compatible with ETS2 and ATS, with all base trucks and almost all modded ones. The author has moved modded truck support there.
Compatibility and issues
The author confirms it works on ATS 1.60 and in Convoy: players who don’t have the mod won’t hear the sounds, but there won’t be crashes. With 1.60 there were bugs with the reverse sound and engines that disappeared; the author explains the change came from SCS and that he fixed a clutch issue.

How to install it
- Open the “MrBadMae's Engines and Transmissions” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
- In your profile's Mod Manager, enable “MrBadMae's Engines and Transmissions”.
- Go to a service shop and check your truck's engine and transmission: some engines changed after the June 2026 overhaul.
