What this mod does
Volvo Drivetrain Revision is galimim‘s engine and transmission overhaul for the Volvos in American Truck Simulator. It replaces the generic drivetrains with engines and transmissions using real data and names, taken from Volvo technical brochures. There’s also a version for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Engines
- Volvo D11, D13 and D16 in EPA 2013 and EPA 2017 versions, with different-colored icons.
- Cummins ISX15 and X15.
- Alternative torque curves on the multi-torque engines: ECO, Dual-Torque, Eco-Torque and XE.
Transmissions and axles
I-Shift, Eaton Fuller Advantage, FR, RT and UltraShift, with a naming code the author explains in the thread, plus extra axle ratios.
Compatible trucks
SCS’s Volvo VNL, VNL 2018, VNL 2025 (added in 7.0), VNR, and Aradeth’s VNL670, VNL Truck Shop and VNL780.
Known issues
There’s a separate patch for Mr. Capitals’ rework that, according to the author, breaks the stock truck. His load order: patch, Drivetrain Revision, then the rework or other Volvo mods. The changelog is contradictory about the VNL 2018 and the VNR: 6.6 removed them, and the current list includes them again.
Version
Version 7.0 came out in May 2026. The author doesn’t list a game version.

Requirements
- American Truck Simulator 1.59 or later (May 2026 version; the author doesn't list an exact version)
- A compatible Volvo: SCS's VNL, VNL 2018, VNL 2025 or VNR, or the modded VNLs the author mentions
How to install it
- Open the first post of the author's thread on the SCS forum.
- Download the file from the author's Google Drive link.
- Copy the file to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod and enable it in the Mod Manager.
- If you use Volvo mods, place them below Drivetrain Revision (the Mr. Capitals patch, if you use it, goes at the very top).
- At a service shop, pick the engine and transmission on your Volvo again.
