What this mod does

Extra AI Race Mission expands BeamNG.drive’s AI races with an arcade approach. You play it from Freeroam mode: find the mission on the big map, tweak the options and start racing against opponents controlled by the game.

Race modes

  • Race: a regular race against the AI.
  • Time Attack: solo laps to beat your best time.
  • Eliminator: every so often the last-place driver is eliminated and their car explodes.
  • Road Rage: you score points by running opponents off the road, with boost and air control.
  • Gimmick Race: a kart-style race with special pads (requires the Gimmick Pad mod).
  • Thrill Drive: a race on open roads with traffic and a final screen listing your traffic violations.

Options and maps

You can choose the route, number of laps, reverse direction, number of opponents and their vehicle group (modded cars included), traffic and time of day. If you go off track, you respawn at the last checkpoint, just like the AI. West Coast USA has all six modes; East Coast USA, Italy and Utah have five; and other official maps such as Industrial, Hirochi Raceway or Johnson Valley have between three and four.

Compatibility

It only works in Freeroam, not in Scenarios or Career. Version 0.6.0 came out on October 15, 2026, before 0.40, so it may need a tweak for the new game version. If you’re coming from 0.5.x, your settings and custom vehicle groups are reset.

Highlights and things to keep in mind

Highlights
  • Six very different race modes
  • Lots of options: opponents, traffic, laps and time of day
  • Updated in October 2026 by a very active author
Keep in mind
  • The current game version is 0.40 (October 19, 2026): the mod doesn't list it and may need an update; also, after a major update the game disables mods and you have to re-enable them
  • Freeroam only, not Career
  • Some users point out that the AI sometimes crashes into the player or doesn't see the other opponents well
  • Moving to 0.6.0 wipes your 0.5.x settings and results

Requirements

Install first: Gimmick Pad Mod (only for the Gimmick Race mode)
