What this mod does
Engines & Transmissions is one of the truck mods with the most subscribers on Steam Workshop (more than 590,000). It doesn’t change how the truck looks: it adds engines and gearboxes the game doesn’t include to the dealership and upgrade shop parts lists.
What it adds
- 1000, 2000 and 4000 hp engines.
- Two gearboxes with 24 forward and 4 reverse gears.
Compatible trucks
It works with SCS’s original trucks (Scania, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, DAF, Renault and Iveco) and with several trucks from well-known mods, such as Eugene’s Next Generation Scania, RJL’s Scanias, the Peterbilt 389, several Kenworths, the Freightliner Cascadia and the Mercedes New Actros 2019. The authors have been adding recent models such as the Volvo FH 2022.
Who it’s for
For anyone who wants to climb hills fully loaded without losing speed, haul heavy cargo arcade-style or just have fun. It’s not a realistic mod: with 4000 hp the truck behaves nothing like a real one.
Multiplayer and manual shifting
It works in single-player and in SCS’s official Convoy, but not on TruckersMP. If you use an H-shifter, you’ll need to map the 24 gears; the authors provide a shifter layout on GitHub.
Version
Version 2.1.2.0 is tagged for ETS2 1.59. Test it on a spare save if you play on 1.61.

How to install it
- Go to the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click 'Subscribe'.
- Open ETS2 and enable 'Engines & Transmissions' in the Mod Manager.
- Place it above the truck mods you want to use it with.
- Go to an upgrade shop or dealership and look for the new engines and gearboxes in the truck parts.
- If you use an H-shifter, download the shifter layout the authors link to and set up the 24 gears.
Common problems
Does it work on TruckersMP?
No. The authors say it works in single-player and in SCS's Convoy, not on TruckersMP.
Why can't I reach every gear with the H-shifter?
You need to edit the shifter layout for 24 gears; the authors link a ready-made one on GitHub.
Does it work on trucks from other modders?
Only the ones on its list, like Eugene's Scania, RJL's trucks or the Peterbilt 389.
