What this mod does
Realistic Drivers – ETS2 Version changes the traffic data file (traffic_data) so AI drivers behave more realistically. The author sums it up like this: in the stock game, AI cars often slam on the brakes, merge right on top of you or crowd you, and that breaks immersion. It has over 138,000 subscribers.
Authorship
The original mod is by PurityControl for American Truck Simulator. the_mighty_butt_pir8 ported it to ETS2 with his permission, as stated in the description.
Version
The latest update is from December 6, 2025. In June 2026 the author wrote that it was already compatible with 1.59 and the 1.60 open beta with no changes. He adds that it should work on any version as long as SCS doesn’t overhaul the structure of the AI files. He also warns that it may need changes because of the Coaches DLC.
Load order
According to the author, it has to go below any other mod that changes the traffic_data.sii file. If you use another traffic mod, check first whether it touches that file.
The page says nothing about multiplayer or DLC. It’s only about 81 KB.

How to install it
- Open the "Realistic Drivers - ETS2 Version" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading.
- Launch ETS2, open the Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- Place it below any other mod that changes traffic_data.sii.
- Load your save and drive through busy areas to notice the change.
