What this mod does
Infinite Water Source solves a very specific Hytale problem: the water you collect with a bucket runs out. With this mod you can create an infinite water source with just two buckets, like in other building games.
How it works
- Empty a water bucket into one corner of a 2×2 block hole and another into the opposite corner: the water becomes infinite.
- It also works in a line, in a 1×3 hole.
- It supports waterlogged blocks (blocks that contain water).
From then on you can take water as many times as you want without the pool draining, which is very handy for farms, kitchens and drinking troughs at bases far from lakes and rivers.
Version
The latest file is 0.1.6, from May 27, 2026, which fixed a game crash in Hytale 0.5.0. The author has it tagged as compatible with 0.6 and 0.5 on CurseForge, but hasn’t released a new file since then. It doesn’t need other mods, is under 80 KB and its code is open source (MIT license).
This mod page was checked with Hytale 0.6 (Update 6). With Update 7 (0.7), released on October 12, 2026, the mod will need an update: don’t use it in an important world until the author releases a file tagged for the new version.
Checked on October 20, 2026: the author hasn’t released a file tagged for Hytale 0.7 (Update 7) on CurseForge yet. We’ll check again and update this page as soon as it’s out.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.6 or 0.5 (file InfiniteWaterSource-0.1.6.jar)
- No dependencies: it doesn't need other mods
How to install it
- Open the Infinite Water Source page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download InfiniteWaterSource-0.1.6.jar from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.6).
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Infinite Water Source in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- Dig a 2x2 (or 1x3) hole and empty a water bucket at each end to create the infinite source.

How many buckets do I need?

The author tags the 0.1.6 file as compatible with 0.6 and 0.5, although it's from May and there's no later version.
