Cats (Kaworru) for Hytale

What this mod does

Cats, by Kaworru, adds pet cats that live in the world of Hytale. You find them wild in Zones 1 to 4, tame them little by little and, from then on, they have their own personality, mood and needs.

Breeds and taming

There are black, calico, gray tabby, long-haired Russian Blue, orange tabby, Siamese and tuxedo cats, plus kittens in an experimental stage. To tame one, approach carefully and feed it fish several times until you earn its trust; the better the fish, the better your chances. Once you succeed, you see its personality and give it a name.

Daily life

• Mood on five levels, from miserable to ecstatic, which drops over time.
• Needs for rest, company and play that guide what the cat does on its own.
• If it’s happy, it sometimes brings you a gift when you pet it.
• Press F with an empty hand to open an action wheel: follow, sit, wait, wander, sleep or play.

Items

Cat bed (at the Furniture Bench), used to call and manage your cats; a carrier, a ball of yarn to play fetch and treats that heal them and cheer them up (at the Farming Bench). Each cat has a single owner and by default you can have up to 16.

Version

3.3.0 (September 13, 2026) moves to Hytale 0.6.5 and makes cat names persist across restarts.

This page has been checked with Hytale 0.6 (Update 6). With Update 7 (0.7), released on October 12, 2026, the mod will need an update: don’t use it on an important world until the author publishes a file marked for the new version.

Checked on October 20, 2026: the author hasn’t published a file marked for Hytale 0.7 (Update 7) on CurseForge yet. We’ll check again and update this page as soon as it’s out.

Requirements

• Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.6 (file cats-hytale-3.3.0.jar)
• No dependencies: doesn't need any other mods

How to install it

1. Open the Cats page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download cats-hytale-3.3.0.jar from the Files tab (the file marked 0.6).
2. If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
3. Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Cats in the mod list and save the world settings.
4. On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
5. In your game, find a wild cat, approach slowly with fish in your hand and feed it several times until it's tamed.
