HyFishing for Hytale

What this mod does

HyFishing turns fishing into an activity with real substance. You craft an Angler’s Bench at the workbench and use it to make the rod and the fish bag; then you cast into the water, wait for a bite and reel in at the right moment.

What it adds

• Catches by area: the fish change depending on whether you fish in fresh or salt water.
• Random sizes and leaderboards with personal and global records, which you can check with /hfleaders.
• Fish bag: a separate inventory so yours doesn’t fill up during fishing sessions.
• Releasing fish: you can put them back in the water; if you leave them on land too long, they turn into bone fragments.
• Custom sounds when casting and reeling in, and tweaked bobber physics.

Version

0.6.8 (September 20, 2026) is the version for Hytale 0.6 and reworks a good part of the system: fish approach the bobber more naturally, two players can’t go after the same fish, the Angler’s Bench now takes up three blocks and the fishing log book is back. That book is still half-finished (texture, notes and locations tabs, and the records page). The author plans seasonal tournaments, new fish, bait and more animations.

Checked on October 20, 2026: the author hasn’t published a file marked for Hytale 0.7 (Update 7) on CurseForge yet. We’ll check again and update this page as soon as it’s out.

Requirements

• Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.6 (file HyFishing-0.6.8.jar)
• No dependencies: doesn't need any other mods

How to install it

1. Open the HyFishing page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download HyFishing-0.6.8.jar from the Files tab.
2. If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
3. Open Hytale, right-click the world, check HyFishing in the mod list and save the world settings.
4. On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
5. In your game, craft the Angler's Bench at the workbench and use it to make the rod and the fish bag. Find fresh or salt water and cast.
