What this mod does
New (October 12, 2026): Hytale Update 7 adds an official spyglass, the Spyglass, among the goblin gadgets in Chapter I. This mod is still an alternative if you play on version 0.6 or prefer how it works; if you’re on 0.7, first check whether the author has released a compatible file.
Spyglass adds a spyglass to Hytale: a simple item to zoom in and spot structures or enemies before you go exploring.
How to get it
- Crafting it at the workbench, in the tools section, with 3 copper ingots, 1 blue crystal shard, 1 log from any tree and 2 plant fibers.
- As loot from skeleton pirates: the captain drops it with an 8% chance, the gunner with 4% and the raider with 2%.
How to use it
Right-click to zoom in and left-click while looking through it to switch between 2x, 3x and 6x. Since version 0.5.0 it uses the game’s native field of view control (Hytale 0.6.3 or later), so the old camera issues, like clipping through walls or seeing through blocks, are gone.
Servers can adjust the zoom levels, field of view, transition duration and drop chance in its config.json. Version 0.5.2 (September 4, 2026) only adds its own icon in the world’s mod list.
This mod page was checked with Hytale 0.6 (Update 6). With Update 7 (0.7), released on October 12, 2026, the mod will need an update: don’t use it in an important world until the author releases a file tagged for the new version.
Checked on October 20, 2026: the author hasn’t released a file tagged for Hytale 0.7 (Update 7) on CurseForge yet. We’ll check again and update this page as soon as it’s out.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.6.3 or later (file Spyglass-0.5.2.jar)
- No dependencies: it doesn't need other mods
How to install it
- Open the Spyglass page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download Spyglass-0.5.2.jar from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.6).
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Spyglass in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- Craft the spyglass at the workbench (tools section) and use it with right-click.

Common problems
What zoom levels does it have?
2x, 3x and 6x by default; you switch between them with left-click while looking through it. Servers can change them in config.json.
Does it work on older versions of Hytale?
0.5.x uses the native field of view that arrived with Hytale 0.6.3; on earlier game versions, use an older file of the mod.
Can I get it without crafting it?
Yes. Skeleton pirates sometimes drop it: the captain with an 8% chance.
