What this mod does
LA Canyons recreates the mountain roads of the San Gabriel Mountains, north of Los Angeles. The main loop adds up to about 42 km, twice the length of the Nordschleife, combining sections of the Angeles Crest Highway, Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, Angeles Forest Highway and the climb toward Mount Lawlor. Tight corners, fast linked sweepers, guardrails and real signage: it’s one of the favorite settings for touge, drifting, relaxed cruises and online meetups.
What the free version includes
- Six main layouts: normal and reverse, two free-roam modes (with 100 and 60 pit boxes), Mount Lawlor Tourist and a pursuit mode.
- Roads with tire marks, patches, drains and tarmac details added in 1.2.
- Sector timing on most layouts.
The author sells some VIP extras separately with more roads and layouts, but the free map is complete on its own.
Before you install
The author himself warns that the package isn’t set up to be dragged into Content Manager: you need to read the included installation guide. He also forbids re-uploading it to other websites, so only download it from its page on OverTake.
Included roads:
- Free version: Angeles Crest Highway, Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, Angeles Forest Highway and Barley Flats Road.
- Paid VIP extras (Phoenix Mods Sellfy store, Silver and Platinum tiers): Mount Wilson, Mount Disappointment and Big Tujunga Canyon Road, with layouts such as Angeles Crest Highway Eastbound and Westbound or Mount Wilson Downhill and Hillclimb.
Online play and stats: there are several servers; find them by typing «canyons» in the server browser. On OverTake it has nearly 800,000 downloads and 4.95/5 from 778 ratings (checked on October 22, 2026). The author recommends x16 anisotropic filtering to see the center lines more sharply.
