What this mod does
RSR Formula 3 is one of the most downloaded and highest-rated free open-wheelers for Assetto Corsa. It’s by Andrea Lojelo, who handled the physics, with a 3D model created by Mario and Maurizio Gilles and sound by elMariachi90.
What it offers
- Two variants: the Formula317, modeled from scratch for version 4.0, and the Formula312.
- Physics built with real telemetry data: carefully studied suspension geometry, aerodynamics where the front and rear wings affect each other, and brakes with a thermal model.
- Three tire compounds and fuel consumption tuned to real data.
- A VR-optimized model (Oculus) included in the download.
A real driver from the British Formula 3 Cup took part in testing. The result is a demanding but very forgiving car, ideal for learning to drive open-wheelers before moving up to more powerful classes.
Before you install
The liveries come in a separate pack, in 4K or 2K depending on how powerful your PC is. If you use a direct drive (servo) wheelbase, the author recommends raising steering assist to 100. Setups from version 3.1 don’t work in 4.0 because the aerodynamics changed.
The current version is 4.0, from May 2018. It’s old, but it’s still a benchmark among free open-wheelers.

Common problems
The car shows up without liveries or all white
You're missing the livery pack, which is downloaded separately in 4K or 2K.
My old setups don't work
Setups from version 3.1 aren't compatible with 4.0 because the aero package changed.
The steering feels odd with a direct drive wheel
The author recommends setting steering assist to 100 instead of 50.
Is it a 2026 F1 car?
No. It's a Formula 3 car. We haven't found a free, legitimately sourced F1 car built to the 2026 regulations.
