What this mod does
The Formula Alpha 2022 is an open-wheeler by VRC, a team known for its high-quality Assetto Corsa cars, that reproduces the 2022 Formula 1 regulations with its own names and designs. It used to be paid; now it’s a free download from their official store.
What makes it special
- Hybrid power unit with about 1000 hp in total, 160 of them electric, at a weight of 719 kg.
- Ground-effect aerodynamics with simulated porpoising: the car bounces on straights if you run a lot of downforce.
- ERS system with four MGU-K deployment modes and modes for the MGU-H.
- Three aero specs (A, B and C) with different downforce levels.
- Animated driver, flexible front wing and configurable halo.
It’s ideal if you want a modern F1 car without relying on models ripped from other games. To get the most out of it, use a wheel and spend some time on battery and tire management.
Version
The current version is 1.3, from March 2023, which improved the suspension and steering geometry and fixed rear lockups with CSP 0.1.79 or later and the AI’s top speed. It includes fallback vanilla physics, although those are updated less often.
