What this mod does
The VRC 2005 Renault R25 recreates the car Renault raced in the 2005 Formula 1 season. It’s made by the VRC Modding Team (Virtual Racing Cars), the same team behind the Formula Alpha and that year’s McLaren MP4-20, which was released at the same time. It has passed 80,000 downloads and is rated 4.9 out of 5 from more than a hundred ratings.
Who made it
The mod page credits mati.sala90, sam_alonso93, misterbeam, Ferrari64, IMrIMike and SalamanderSoldier. It doesn’t say who did what or list any features: the installation instructions come in a PDF included in the download, which you should read before copying anything.
Version
Version 1.1, from January 2020, only tweaks pit stop times. The file is about 99 MB and you download it from OverTake with a free account.
Why it’s worth it
The R25 is the car Fernando Alonso won his first world title with, and it belongs to the last era of V10 engines, which makes it one of the most sought-after open-wheelers among Spanish-speaking fans.

How to install it
- Go to the VRC 2005 Renault R25 page on OverTake.gg and sign in.
- Download the file (about 99 MB).
- Open the included PDF and follow the team's installation instructions.
- Drag the file into Content Manager or copy the car folder into assettocorsa/content/cars.
- Pick the R25 in Content Manager and head out on track.
