What this mod does

Ford Car Pack Powertrain Fixes, by Paper Launch, fixes a base-game behavior with the cars from the Road Trip: Ford DLC: when using the engine brake, the cars would downshift. With this mod, that no longer happens.

What changes

  • The engine brake no longer causes downshifts on the Fords.
  • As a trade-off, the engine brake can’t be adjusted with the increase and decrease keys; the engine brake indicator still shows in the widget when you press the key.
  • According to the author, it should work with sound mods that replace the sound.sui file.

Details

It’s a 20 KB mod published September 30, 2026 and updated October 1, 2026, with two change notes. It has no comments or discussions on Steam, so there are no problem reports; it doesn’t state a game version either, although it was published with 1.61 current, which is the version that brought the DLC. It has over 650 subscribers. Paper Launch is the author of other ATS add-ons, such as the extra parts for the 2025 Volvo VNL.

How to install it

  1. Open the "Ford Car Pack Powertrain Fixes" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
  2. Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
  3. Go to the Mod Manager in your profile and enable "Ford Car Pack Powertrain Fixes".
  4. Get in any of the Fords and use the engine brake: it will no longer downshift.
