What this mod does
Real Soundproofing is a mod by Sherman that changes cab sound insulation in American Truck Simulator so the noise you hear inside sounds more like a real truck. It has almost 38,000 subscribers.
What changes
- It adjusts the insulation of SCS’s stock trucks.
- It includes about 43 entries for modded trucks from around 25 authors, from brands like Autocar, Dodge, Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Marmon, Peterbilt, Scot, Volvo, White and Western Star.
- The author tuned it based on lots of YouTube videos and his own impressions, using Shure and M-Audio audio gear.
Some modded trucks on the list, marked with an asterisk, need to be up to date for it to work.
Version
The page says it’s compatible with versions after 1.51, without giving a specific number. The latest update is from January 11, 2025. In May 2026 the author said the new VNL already sounds right in stock form and needs no changes. One user says it didn’t work for them even at top priority. It’s about 366 KB.
Compatibility
If you use another mod that changes cab insulation, keep only one of the two enabled so they don’t overwrite each other.

Requirements
- American Truck Simulator 1.51 or later
- Steam account to subscribe on the Workshop
- No DLC or other mods required
How to install it
- Open the “Real Soundproofing” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- Get in a truck and listen to the cab with the interior camera.
