What this mod does
WS 4900 is the Western Star 4900 by Jon Ruda, one of the best-known American truck modders. Steam Workshop has the Lite edition, which is free and standalone: it doesn’t replace any truck in the game, and you buy it at the mod dealer.
What the Lite version includes
- High-roof sleeper cab on a 6×4 chassis.
- High-quality model and textures, with a detailed interior.
- Basic tuning options.
Full version (paid)
It sells for 35 $ on byjonruda.com (version 1.4, September 25, 2026, ATS 1.58-1.61). It includes EX and SB variants, 5 cabs, 6×4, 8×4 and 8×6 chassis in several lengths, an animated interior with Zeemods effects, and engines and sounds by Kapitan Kriechbaum. It also comes with a paint job pack with a template and lots of accessories, and it’s compatible with SiSL’s Mega Pack and the Cabin Accessories DLC.
Known issues
One user says the truck takes a long time to load when buying it and in quick jobs, to the point of almost freezing the game. Another player suggests checking the load order. The Steam page doesn’t list any required DLC or load order.

How to install it
- Open the “WS 4900 ByJonRuda” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
- Open the Mod Manager in your profile and enable “WS 4900 ByJonRuda”.
- Load your profile and go to a mod dealer (Mod Dealer).
- Buy the WS 4900 and configure it in the truck shop.
