What this mod does
Background Lights & V8 Back Panels for new Scania R & S is a mod by Harven, author of the Mack R Series and the Freightliner FLB, that adds colors to two parts of the next-generation Scania trucks in Euro Truck Simulator 2. It has over 230,000 subscribers.
What’s included
- Background lights in 12 variants: blue, cyan, green, white and several two-color combinations.
- V8 back panels in 7 colors: blue, cyan, green, orange, violet, yellow and white.
Which trucks
Only for SCS’s next-generation Scania R and S. It doesn’t work on other trucks or on mod Scanias.
Multiplayer
The author warns that it doesn’t work in multiplayer.
Version
The author says it’s compatible with game version 1.30 and later. The latest update is from April 3, 2025. In the comments, several players ask him to update it for 1.58 and 1.61; the author hasn’t replied.

Harven and SCS Software. It’s free, under 2 MB and needs no DLC. You pick the parts when customizing your Scania R or S at the service shop.

How to install it
- Open the “Background Lights & V8 Back Panels for new Scania R & S” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager, enable the mod and confirm the changes.
- At the service shop, customize your Scania R or S and pick the color of the background lights or the V8 back panel.
