What this mod does
Scania V8 Stock Sound is one of the highest-rated sound mods on the Euro Truck Simulator 2 Workshop. Its author, SlavJerry, rebuilds the sound of the Scania V8s from SCS’s engine samples, with his own sampling, mixing and mastering work, so they sound like a stock V8 and not like a straight pipe.
Engines covered
- DC16 V8 from 480 to 580 hp for the Series 4.
- DC16 V8 from 500 to 730 hp for the Series 5 and 6, including Euro 6 and Euro 5 EEV.
- DC16 V8 from 520 to 730 hp (and 770 hp) for the new generation (NG).
- DSC14 V8 from 460 to 530 hp for the Series 4.
Other sound details
- Opticruise gear shifts and retarder sound.
- Gearbox whine and an engine fan that kicks in on its own.
- Its own cab interior insulation.
- Distance attenuation and directional effects depending on where you hear the truck from.
Compatibility
It works with SCS’s Scanias, those by Eugene and RJL, and with JUseeTV’s Scania PGR. The P and G series are left out. It’s a small mod (under 5 MB) and needs no DLC. If you use another Scania sound mod, enable only one at a time so they don’t override each other.

Requirements

- A compatible Scania V8 truck (SCS, Eugene, RJL or JUseeTV's PGR)
How to install it
- Open the mod's page on the Euro Truck Simulator 2 Steam Workshop.
- Click Subscribe and wait for Steam to download it.
- Start the game and load your profile.
- Open the Mod Manager and enable Scania V8 Stock Sound.
- If you have another Scania sound mod, disable it or place it below.
- Go to the service shop and pick a compatible V8 engine for your Scania to hear it.

Common problems
Does it work with modded Scanias?
Yes with those by Eugene, RJL and JUseeTV's Scania PGR, according to the author. The P and G series are left out.
With the windows closed the sound is very muffled
It's a complaint that shows up in the comments. The mod comes with its own cab insulation; check that you don't have another sound or insulation mod enabled above it.
Do I need any DLC?
No, the author doesn't list any required DLC.
