What this mod does
Reefer trailer sound addon is an add-on by Drive Safely, the author of Sound Fixes Pack. It adds the definition files that make the refrigeration units on reefer trailers sound, using the SCS Software sounds included in that pack.
What it does
- Start-up and hum of the refrigeration unit, which you can also hear from the cab.
- The sound keeps looping while you drive and stops when you detach.
- It includes a trick in the navigation voice (“~ Function – Force enable reefer sound”) to force it on any trailer, including your own.
Trailers and jobs
It works with the base game reefers and with the Schwarzmüller, Krone Cool Liner, TIRSAN SRI, Schmitz Cargobull S.KO Cool and Kögel Cool. It works with the freight market and external contracts; on quick jobs you may need to detach and reattach the trailer for it to start.
Requirements and version
It needs Sound Fixes Pack with high priority in the Mod Manager, and you have to disable other road sound or trailer wheel sound mods. The author lists it as compatible with versions 1.55 to 1.61 and last updated it on September 16, 2026. He recommends leaving the trailer noise slider at 50%.

How to install it
- Subscribe to Sound Fixes Pack on Steam Workshop if you don't have it yet.
- Open the “Reefer trailer sound addon for ETS2” page and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch ETS2 and go to the Mod Manager.
- Enable both mods and keep Sound Fixes Pack at high priority, as the author asks.
- Disable other road sound or trailer wheel sound mods.
- In Options > Audio, set the trailer noise slider to around 50%.

Common problems
Does it need another mod?
Yes, Sound Fixes Pack by the same author; the reefer sounds come from that pack.
Does it work with my trailers?
For owned trailers, the author only confirms it on compatible DLC reefers; for the rest you have the navigation voice trick.
Why does the sound cut out on some roads?
Some roads have no trailer wheel sound, which is what the reefer sound is attached to; it comes back when you drive on grass or gravel.
Can I use it with IberFrío?
No, both change the same trailers: use only one.
