What this mod does
Real Train Sounds ETS2, by Cipus (Cip), replaces the train sounds in Euro Truck Simulator 2 with real ones. It has over 117,000 subscribers on Steam Workshop. Erbkaiser is also listed as an author on the page.
What it changes
- Real electric and diesel locomotive sounds.
- Unique engine and horn for some of the locomotives (m62, cc47e, g16 and ChME3).
- A few more cars on those locomotives.
- Different wheel sounds for freight, passenger and high-speed trains, with brakes and noises.
- Movement sounds for trains and combine harvesters, which replace files in SCS’s original sound bank.
- Level crossing sounds by country; in some countries several play at random.
Version
The description says it’s compatible from 1.38 onward. On September 27, 2026, Erbkaiser announced in the comments the 1.61 update made by Cip, which matches the date of the latest Workshop update.

The author credits Powerfull for some sound samples and FMOD, the game’s sound tool.

How to install it
- Open the "Real Train Sounds ETS2" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading.
- Launch ETS2, open the Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- Load your save and get close to a railway or level crossing to hear the new sounds.
