What this mod does
Volvo FH4 Improved Engine Sound, by Knights Gaming, changes the engine sound of the fourth-generation Volvo FH in Euro Truck Simulator 2. According to the author, it starts from the Volvo FH4 sound by Kriechbaum, who is credited along with KnightRider and SCS. It has over 43,000 subscribers on Steam Workshop.
Recent changes
- v3.1 (May 5, 2026): updated structure to ensure compatibility.
- v3.0 (April 23, 2026): the engine now sounds like the D13TC, and the sound insulation has been rebuilt from scratch.
- v2.6 (April 19, 2026): fixes to the retarder sound.
Compatibility
The author doesn’t state a game version. It doesn’t require any DLC or other mods. If you have several sound mods for the same truck, keep only one enabled to avoid conflicts.
Known issues
A player who drives with a PS5 controller says the engine vibrations are far too strong compared to the base game. Another had problems after an update and fixed it by unsubscribing and subscribing again.
Knights Gaming also releases improved dashboards for several SCS trucks, and accepts donations via PayPal and Buy Me a Coffee.

- No DLC needed
How to install it
- Open the “Volvo FH4 Improved Engine Sound” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- If you have another sound mod for the FH4, disable it.
- Drive a Volvo FH4 to hear the new sound.
