What this mod does
Volvo FH5 Improved Engine Sound is a sound mod by Knights Gaming that changes the engine sound of the fifth-generation Volvo FH (SCS’s FH 2021) in Euro Truck Simulator 2. It uses a sound by Kriechbaum, a well-known sound creator for SCS games, and credits him in the description along with KnightRider and SCS.
What it changes
- New engine sound for the Volvo FH5, based on Kriechbaum’s work.
- Cab sound insulation rebuilt from scratch in version 2.7.
- Structure updated in version 3.0 to keep it compatible.
Compatibility
The author explains that it works with the internal Volvo_2021 and Volvo_2022 models; there’s no Volvo_2024. You need Volvo_2022 because SCS changed the truck’s structure. It doesn’t require DLC or other mods.
Version
The latest version is 3.0, from May 5, 2026. The author doesn’t state the game version. Some users say they don’t notice a difference on the 500 hp engine, so it’s worth testing with different power ratings. Knights Gaming publishes improved sounds and dashboards for other SCS trucks.

How to install it
- Open the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.

- Drive a Volvo FH5 to hear the new sound.
