What this mod does
IberFrío is a sound mod by ✪Старый✪ that adds refrigeration unit noise to the reefer trailers in Euro Truck Simulator 2. It’s made for version 1.61 of the game.
How it sounds
- When you attach the trailer, the landing gear goes up, a short beep plays, the unit’s engine starts and a constant hum remains.
- You hear the hum standing still and while driving, inside and outside the cab; inside it’s quieter.
- When you detach, the unit shuts off. If you load a save with the reefer attached, it plays from the very start.
- Reefers in traffic make sound too, quietly and only up close.
Compatible trailers
The base game SCS reefer (freight market, owned trailers and doubles) and the one from the Scandinavia DLC, plus the Schmitz Cargobull S.KO Cool, Krone Cool Liner, Kögel Cool, Schwarzmüller and Tirsan SRI if you own their DLCs.
Where the sound comes from
It uses Freesound recordings under the CC0 license (public domain); the start-up beep was made by the author himself.
Compatibility
It replaces the trailer wheel sound. Disable “Reefer trailer sound addon” if you have it and place IberFrío above Sound Fixes Pack. Version 1.1 is from October 24, 2026.

How to install it
- Open the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch ETS2 and go to the Mod Manager.
- Enable “IberFrío — Reefer unit sound”.
- If you have “Reefer trailer sound addon”, disable it: it touches the same trailers.
- If you use Sound Fixes Pack, keep it enabled and move IberFrío above it with the priority button.
- Apply the changes, load your profile and hook up a reefer trailer.

Common problems
Where do I adjust the volume?
In Options > Audio, with the trailer noise slider; in the cab it's quieter than outside.
Does it work in Convoy?
Yes; it's optional for the other players in the convoy.
Can I use it with Reefer trailer sound addon?
No, both change the same trailers: disable that mod.
Why does it hum with any trailer at first?
It's a limitation the author mentions: until the first time you attach or detach a reefer, the hum may play with any trailer.
