What this mod does
Celly’s Beast Skins adds variety to Hytale’s predators: each one spawns with a random combination of colors and details. It’s the predator part that was split off from Celly’s Wildlife Skins, which now requires it as a dependency.
Creatures and variants
- Red fox: 135; arctic fox: 108.
- White wolf and black wolf: 9 each.
- Hyena: 448.
- Spider: 2,880; scorpion: 2,375.
- Crocodile: 64.
- Brown bear: 245 since 1.0.3; polar bear: 25.
Breeding and compatibility
With Celly’s Baby Animals, offspring combine traits: foxes reach 2,016 variants and wolves 72 by crossing subspecies. The arctic fox variants need Alec’s Animal Husbandry 1.4.2. It only changes appearance: neither difficulty nor loot.
Version 1.0.3 (September 14, 2026) uses the new brown bear model and tints grayscale textures, which reduces memory use.
This page has been checked with Hytale 0.6 (Update 6). With Update 7 (0.7), released October 12, 2026, the mod will need an update: don’t use it on an important world until the author publishes a file tagged for the new version.
Checked on October 20, 2026: the author hasn’t published a file tagged for Hytale 0.7 (Update 7) on CurseForge yet. We’ll check again and update this page as soon as it’s out.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.6 (file Celly's Beast Skins v1.0.3.zip)
- No required dependencies
- Optional: Alec's Animal Husbandry 1.4.2 (arctic fox variants) and Celly's Baby Animals (breeding with inherited looks)
How to install it
- Open the Celly's Beast Skins page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download Celly's Beast Skins v1.0.3.zip from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.6).
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into your mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, tick Celly's Beast Skins in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, put the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- Explore areas with predators: the new variants appear on newly spawned creatures.

Common problems
Do I need it if I already use Celly's Wildlife Skins?
Yes. Since Wildlife Skins 1.3.0, predators are in this pack and Wildlife Skins requires it as a dependency.
Why don't my arctic foxes change?
Their variants require Alec's Animal Husbandry 1.4.2.
Does it change difficulty or loot?
No. It only changes how creatures look.
Does it use a lot of memory?
The author split it off from the main pack to reduce texture usage, and 1.0.3 lowers it even further.
