What this mod does
Celly’s Avian Skins is a texture pack from excel_lynt’s (Celly’s) collection of animal reskins. It does for flying creatures what Celly’s Wildlife Skins does for land wildlife: instead of a single look, each species gets several color and detail variants. It started as a separate mod to avoid overloading the texture atlas and the size of the main pack.
Creatures included
- Brown owl and snowy owl.
- Raven, crow and hawk.
- Bat and ice bat (added in 1.0.3).
The author has more birds planned: bluebird, greenfinch, parrot, pigeon, sparrow, woodpecker, duck, vulture, pterodactyl and archaeopteryx.
What it pairs with
It shines especially with Alec’s Animal Husbandry, which lets you tame these birds; in fact, that mod installs it as a dependency. With Celly’s Baby Animals you can crossbreed brown and snowy owls, and with Wildlife Skins you complete the collection. None of them are required to use this pack.
Version
1.0.2 (August 28, 2026) got it ready for Update 6 and 1.0.3 (September 2) adds the bats and optimizes texture usage. It’s an easy way to give the world more visual variety without touching gameplay.
Checked on October 20, 2026: the author hasn’t published a file marked for Hytale 0.7 (Update 7) on CurseForge yet. We’ll check again and update this page as soon as it’s out.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.6 (file Cellys Avian Skins v1.0.3.zip)
- No required dependencies
- Optional: Alec's Animal Husbandry, Celly's Baby Animals and Celly's Wildlife Skins
How to install it
- Open the Celly's Avian Skins page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download Cellys Avian Skins v1.0.3.zip from the Files tab.
- If you download it manually, copy the .zip as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows, %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- If you use Alec's Animal Husbandry, don't install it twice: that mod already requires it as a dependency and the CurseForge app installs it along with it.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Celly's Avian Skins in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.

Common problems
Do I need Alec's Animal Husbandry?
No. It's optional; it lets you tame these birds. If you already have it installed, Avian Skins comes with it because Animal Husbandry requires it.
Does it change anything in gameplay?
Not according to its description: it only adds visual variants. New mechanics, like taming or breeding, depend on the optional mods.
I don't see variants on the bats
Bats and ice bats arrived in 1.0.3. Check that you have that version.
