What this mod does
Hunger replaces plain eating with a diet system where what you choose to eat affects your character. It’s in early development and the balance is still being tuned.
Food groups
- Meat: health regeneration. Vegetables: more max health.
- Fruit: stamina regeneration. Dairy: more max stamina.
- Bread: defensive bonuses. Grain: hunger drains more slowly.
- Seafood: more max mana. Sugar: mana regeneration.
- Sweets: a short speed boost. Spicy: fire resistance.
- Herbs, spices and fat boost combinations and resistance caps.
Combining foods unlocks buffs to regeneration, stamina, mana, damage and speed. The page doesn’t give exact numbers.
Compatibility
It integrates over 600 foods from 31 community mods, including NoCube’s cooking mods. Admins can tweak in JSON files how fast hunger drains, each food’s nutritional value and the combinations.
Requirements and Update 7
It requires the Survival library, by the same author. Both have a file for Hytale 0.7 since October 16, 2026 (Hunger 1.23.0 and Survival 2.18.0). If you’re going to install it on a server, first read up on Hytale server plugins.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC or server, version 0.7 (file HungerPlugin-1.23.0.jar)
- Survival 2.18.0 (required, by the same author)
- Access to the JSON files if you want to change values
How to install it
- Open the Hunger page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download HungerPlugin-1.23.0.jar from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.7).
- Also download Survival (SurvivalPlugin-2.18.0.jar, tagged 0.7) from its CurseForge page.
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into your mods folder: on Windows %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Hunger and Survival in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.

Common problems
Why do I need Survival?
It's a library by the same author that ties his survival mods together. Hunger lists it as a required dependency.
Does it work with food from other mods?
Yes. It integrates over 600 foods from 31 community mods.
Can I change the values?
Yes. Hunger drain speed, each food's nutritional value and the combinations are set in JSON files.
