What this mod does

The 1982 Ligier JS8 isn’t a race car: it’s a French microcar, the kind you can drive without a license. Gary Paterson spotted it and decided it had to be in Assetto Corsa. The result is one of the most charming mods on OverTake, rated 4.95 out of 5.

What’s included

  • Two variants: the stock 7.5 hp car and an engine-swapped 25 hp version.
  • All LODs, plus animated suspension and driver.
  • A CVT transmission simulated as a single gear: to pull away, just shift up into first.
  • Livery templates and a separate community pack with bread brands, as a nod to the famous baguette.

Who it’s for

For a good laugh, joke races with friends or silly challenges on any track. The author recommends playing it online, because the AI really struggles to get going.

Version

Version 0.91 (July 2019) improved the CVT simulation. The author warns it won’t reach 1.0: the AI is slow, there’s no dirt or damage, and the CVT is still an approximation. He doesn’t recommend the automatic gearbox either.

How to install it

  1. Go to the Ligier JS8 page on OverTake.gg and log in.
  2. Download the file (about 72 MB).
  3. Drag it into Content Manager or copy the folders to assettocorsa/content/cars.
  4. Turn off automatic shifting and shift into first to pull away.

Common problems

The car won't move

Shift into first: the CVT transmission is simulated as a single gear.

The AI doesn't move off at the start

It's a known issue; the author recommends playing it online.
