What this mod does
The Maserati Tipo 61, nicknamed “Birdcage” for its thin-tube chassis, is a 1959 racing barchetta of which 16 were built. Pessio built it from scratch using blueprints and lots of photos, and gave it away to the community.
What’s included
- A new 3D model since version 2.0, more faithful to the original, with all LODs.
- Physics and sound rebuilt in 2.0, plus brake force adjustable in the setup.
- Historic liveries by Andy-R and fine details by luathas, such as the engraved Borrani hubcaps and a chassis plate with a real number.
- A 2K texture version for lower-end PCs.
Who it’s for
For anyone who enjoys 1950s sports racers on classic tracks. Since every unit was slightly different, the author asks you to treat the model as a standard version.
Version
Version 2.1 (January 2022) tweaked tire sensitivity: the car is more stable at the limit and spins less under full throttle on corner exit. Heads up: liveries made for version 1 no longer work, because the UV mapping changed.

How to install it
- Go to the Tipo 61 page on OverTake.gg and log in.
- Download the file (about 97 MB).
- Drag it into Content Manager or copy the car folder to assettocorsa/content/cars.
- Look for Maserati Tipo 61 in the car list.

Common problems
My old liveries don't show up
Version 2.0 changed the UV mapping, and version 1 liveries no longer work.
Does it need Custom Shaders Patch?
