What this mod does

Topanga Canyon Hillclimb is a 13-mile (20 km) point-to-point route along Topanga Canyon Boulevard, on the outskirts of Los Angeles. It climbs from sea level at the Pacific Coast Highway up to about 1,500 feet of elevation and ends at Mulholland. It’s made by Todd K, author of Santa Monica Mountains.

Modes

  • Hillclimb: uphill run with two splits and replay cameras.
  • Downhill: the same route going down.
  • Race: in the uphill direction, with 30 pit boxes and a full grid.
  • Free roam: AI traffic in both directions.

What’s included

AI line, ideal line and minimap. There’s an optional alternative AI line that lets cars cross the double yellow line. Replay cameras are only available in the uphill direction.

Requirements

The author recommends Custom Shaders Patch with GrassFX and only tested it with the patch installed. For the AI, CSP’s new AI behavior is a must, and the Race and Free roam modes require Track Day or race mode. He suggests lighting between 10:30 and 15:30.

Tips

If you’re updating, delete the previous version first. If it takes a long time to load, delete side_l.csv and side_r.csv, as the author explained in 1.01.

How to install it

  1. Delete any previous version of the track.
  2. Go to the Topanga Canyon Hillclimb page on OverTake.gg, log in and download the file (about 458 MB).
  3. Drag it into Content Manager or copy the folder into assettocorsa/content/tracks.
  4. In CSP, enable GrassFX and the new AI behavior.
  5. Pick Hillclimb, Downhill, Race or Free roam.

Does it have traffic?

Yes, in Free roam mode, with AI traffic in both directions.

Can I race against the AI?

Yes, in Race mode, with 30 pit boxes and a full grid.

It takes ages to load

The author said to delete side_l.csv and side_r.csv.
