The Formula Beta 2008 is an open-wheeler created by Virtual Racing Cars (VRC), one of the best-known mod studios for Assetto Corsa. It’s an original design inspired by Formula 1 cars from the V8 era, with no license from any real team, and VRC offers it for free in its store, with the option to leave a donation.

Requirements
- Assetto Corsa for PC
- Content Manager recommended for installation
- Account or email to complete the free download in the VRC store
How to install it
- Go to the Formula Beta 2008 page on the Virtual Racing Cars website.
- Enter 0 as the amount (or whatever you want to donate) and complete the order.
- Download the file from the link the store gives you (about 95 MB).
- Drag the file into Content Manager and click install, or copy the car folder to assettocorsa/content/cars.
- In Content Manager, search for Formula Beta 2008 in the car list and choose a livery.
- Head out on a wide, fast circuit to get used to the downforce.
Common problems
Is it really free?
Yes. In the VRC store it's pay-what-you-want starting at 0; you can donate if you'd like to support the team.
Is it a 2008 McLaren or Ferrari?
No. It's VRC's own design inspired by F1 cars of that era, with no real brands or teams.
How is it different from the Formula Alpha 2022?
The Beta 2008 represents the naturally aspirated V8 era; the Alpha 2022 mimics modern ground-effect hybrid F1 cars.
The rear steps out when I accelerate in slow corners
It's an open-wheeler with lots of power and downforce: be gentle on the throttle or enable aids in Content Manager.
