Allison Transmissions for Volvo VNL 2025 for American Truck Simulator

What this mod does

Allison Transmissions for Volvo VNL 2025 is a small mod by GREG that adds Allison transmissions to SCS’s Volvo VNL 2025. This truck came with its own automated transmission, and the mod gives you the option of fitting Allison transmissions, the torque-converter automatics common in vocational and delivery trucks.

Transmissions included

• Allison 4500 RDS.
• Allison 4500 RDS R (with retarder).
• Allison TC10.
• Allison 4700 RDS.
• Allison 4700 RDS R (with retarder).

How to use it

The author designed it for automatic or sequential shifting and warns that it may cause problems with manual shifting. He himself uses it without a full pedal set or shifter.

ATS 1.61 and the clutch

After 1.61, one user reported that the truck no longer stalled when braking and crept forward when releasing the clutch without throttle. The author tested it with the stock transmissions and saw the same thing: he believes SCS changed the clutch and engine cut-off behavior in 1.61. While he investigates, he says he’ll revert his transmission changes and fix it once he finds a solution.

Released on May 15, 2026 and updated on September 18. A Spanish-speaking user confirms it works perfectly on the VNL 2025.

Requirements

• American Truck Simulator 1.61 (updated in September 2026; the description doesn't list a version)

• An SCS Volvo VNL 2025

How to install it

1. Open the “Allison Transmissions for Volvo VNL 2025” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
2. Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
3. In your profile's Mod Manager, enable “Allison Transmissions for Volvo VNL 2025”.
4. In Options, use automatic or sequential shifting.
5. Go to a service shop and choose one of the Allison transmissions for your VNL 2025.
