What this mod does
Ford Improved Powertrain is a mod by Knights Gaming, the author of Interior Soundproofing. It adds engines and transmissions to the four Fords in the Road Trip: Ford DLC and fixes one of the existing ones.
By vehicle
- Mustang 1967: High-Performance 289 V8 (4.7 L) and FE GT/GTA 390 V8 (6.4 L), with a 3-speed automatic and another optional one, both with revised ratios.
- Crown Victoria 2006: 4.6 L Police V8 and 4.6 L Mercury Marauder V8, with two R470W3 transmissions and 2.73 and 3.08 differentials.
- Bronco 2024: corrected parameters for the 2.7 L EcoBoost V6.
- F-150 2023: supercharged 5.2 L V8.
What you should know
The description doesn’t give horsepower or torque figures. It’s optional in Convoy and weighs just 50 KB, because it only contains definitions. There are no bug reports; comments ask for more engines (428 Cobra Jet, Coyote) and manual gearboxes where there are none. Steam doesn’t list any DLC as required, but all four cars come from Road Trip: Ford. The same author also made Ford Bronco Dark Dashboard, a dark dashboard for driving the Bronco at night.

How to install it
- Open the "Ford Improved Powertrain" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
- Open the Mod Manager in your profile and enable "Ford Improved Powertrain".
- Take any of the four Fords to the service shop and pick the new engine or transmission.
- If you use another engine mod for the same cars, enable only one to avoid conflicts.
