Realistic Cargo Weight 2x for American Truck Simulator

What this mod does

Realistic Cargo Weight 2x is a mod by LKN194 that doubles the mass of the game’s cargo. It keeps the proportions between loads: light cargo stays relatively light and heavy cargo stays heavy. You’ll feel it on climbs, when braking and in fuel consumption, and you’ll need to choose your transmission and engine more carefully.

What it covers

• Base game cargo and trailers.
• Cargo from the Heavy Cargo, Special Transport, Farm, Forest, JCB, Krone and Volvo Construction DLCs, if you own them.
• Lode King and Prestige trailers.
• The 1.61 update adds rebar, seed containers and trailers.

World of Trucks and economy

It was tested with World of Trucks external contracts. There, regular cargo is capped at 100,000 kg, while special transport cargo keeps the double weight. The author says it doesn’t intentionally touch prices, XP or the economy.

Compatibility

It’s made and tested for ATS 1.60 and 1.61, with optional Convoy support. If another weight mod conflicts with this one, place this one above it in the Mod Manager. One user saw odd weights on some trailers without cargo attached; the author couldn’t reproduce it and asked for the game.log.txt file. If double feels like too much, the author also publishes a 1.5x version.

Requirements

• American Truck Simulator 1.60 or 1.61
• Steam account
• Optional cargo DLCs (the mod covers them if you own them)

How to install it

1. Open the “Realistic Cargo Weight 2x” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
2. Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
3. Open the Mod Manager in your profile and enable “Realistic Cargo Weight 2x”.
4. If you have another mod that changes cargo weights, place this one above it in the list.
5. Take a new job: cargo that was already generated may keep its old weight.
