Heavy Cargo in traffic: heavy loads in AI traffic for American Truck Simulator

What this mod does

Heavy Cargo in traffic is a mod by ThommyP10 that adds heavy loads to AI traffic trucks in American Truck Simulator. That way, you’ll pass trucks on the road carrying machinery and big loads like the ones you can haul. It has almost 37,000 subscribers and the description is in Czech and English.

Requirements

You need the Heavy Cargo Pack DLC: the mod uses its cargoes, and Steam lists it as a requirement.

Version

On April 5, 2025 the author updated it to 1.54 and reworked it for the game’s new cargo system. On March 8, 2026 he clarified that it doesn’t work on versions before 1.54 because of that change. It’s a very lightweight file, about 66 KB.

Known issues

The description doesn’t give more detail on which cargoes appear or how often. In the comments, one user says that after 1.59 some cargoes don’t show up on the trailers. If that happens to you, check your game.log with Holyfix to see whether the mod is throwing errors.

Tip

If you use several traffic mods, try this one on its own first to make sure everything works, then add the others.

Requirements

• American Truck Simulator 1.54 or later
• Steam account to subscribe on the Workshop
• Heavy Cargo Pack DLC

How to install it

1. Open the “Heavy Cargo in traffic” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
2. Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
3. Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
4. Make sure the Heavy Cargo Pack DLC is installed and enabled.
