What this mod does
[LGR] Realistic Fines is a mod by LGRinaldi that rebalances the fines in American Truck Simulator. It aims for more believable penalties without making the game unfair. Each offense has an amount and two probabilities: being caught by the automatic system and being caught by the police if they’re nearby.
Which offenses it covers
- Crashing into cars: 600 $, with 30% automatic detection and 90% if police are around.
- Speeding and running a red light.
- Skipping weigh stations and inspections.
- Crossing a border illegally and driving with a damaged vehicle.
The full figures are in a table in the description.
Why automatic crash detection is low
One user complained about that 30%. The author explains he didn’t change it because the game doesn’t know who’s at fault. If he raised it, you’d pay fines for crashes caused by AI traffic.
Versions
Version 1.3 (September 18, 2026) adds support for ATS 1.61 and a “universal” version for untested game versions. There were already versions for 1.57-1.58, 1.59 and 1.60, so it also works if you haven’t updated. There’s a separate version for Euro Truck Simulator 2. The description doesn’t mention DLC or load order.

Common problems
How much does crashing into a car cost?
600 $, with 30% automatic detection and 90% if the police see you.
Does it work on older versions?
Yes: there are versions for 1.57-1.58, 1.59, 1.60 and 1.61, plus a universal one.
Does it penalize border crossings with ProMods or Reforma?
The author said he would check whether the game registers that offense with ProMods; the description doesn't confirm it.
