What this mod does
Peterbilt 358 is the newest mod in Smarty‘s classic series: the thread opened in November 2025 and version 1.2.2 is from September 6, 2026. The author describes it as a small but important evolution of the 351, because it was the first Peterbilt with a tilt hood.
What it covers
- Common production options from 1965 to 1972, that is, from its launch until just before the «1100» cab arrived.
- Engine sound using Kriechbaum samples.
- Paint templates released on August 2, 2026 on the author’s website.
Version and download
The file on scr-rigs.com is 57.37 MB. As with his other trucks, Smarty doesn’t state the game version: the date fits ATS 1.60, before 1.61. He only distributes on Steam Workshop and his website, and asks that it not be uploaded to other sites.
Who it’s for
For anyone already driving the same author’s 350 or 351 who wants the next step in the family, or anyone looking for a well-documented 1960s truck. In the credits, the author thanks Peterbilt experts for their help and acknowledges period technical documentation for Cummins and Hall Scott engines.

How to install it
- Open the Peterbilt 358 page on scr-rigs.com or subscribe on Steam Workshop from the forum thread.
- Download scr_peterbilt_358.zip (57.37 MB).
- Copy the .zip, without unzipping, to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod.
- Enable the mod in the Mod Manager and load your profile.
- If you want to paint it, also download the templates from the same page.
