What this mod does
Realistic Graphics Mod, by TGMODZ, is one of the most viewed graphics mods on the SCS forum for American Truck Simulator. It aims for a more realistic look without putting too much load on your PC: the author says it runs on any PC that meets ATS’s official minimum requirements.
What it changes
- Realistic skies and a complete weather system, with several levels of rain, fog and lightning.
- New rain, road, tree, grass and mountain textures.
- New lighting, road reflections, sun rays and wheel spray.
- Thunder and water sounds, with no bloom effect.
- UI tweaks and a custom exterior truck camera.
Add-ons and warnings
The author offers a separate realistic trees add-on. He warns that adjusting the road reflections can make your tires slip a lot, and links an optional grip mod to fix it. The .zip files go straight into the mod folder, without unzipping.
Credits and version
The rain sounds come from Drive Safely, and the thunder sounds, along with other files, from Kass, both credited by the author. The latest changelog entry, 1.6.0, adds compatibility with ATS 1.60; the thread was updated on September 5, 2026.

How to install it
- Open the mod's official thread on the SCS forum.
- Subscribe to the mod on Steam Workshop from the link in the thread.
- If you want the realistic trees, download the add-on from the thread and copy the .zip, without unzipping, to Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod.
- Enable the mod (and the add-on) in the Mod Manager.
- If your wheels start slipping after changing the road reflections, add the optional grip mod the author links.

Do I need a powerful PC?
