What this mod does
Very Long Freight Trains is the add-on for Long Freight Trains, by the same author, Eddie Yantz. It adds consists around one mile (about 1.6 km) long, twice the length of the base mod.
How it works
- It doesn’t work on its own: it needs Long Freight Trains, which Steam lists as a requirement.
- Every «Very Long» train has at least one DPU right behind the lead locomotive; base-mod trains never do. That’s how you tell them apart at a glance.
- Some consists are still unfinished: those are the ones without that DPU behind the lead unit.
- Map and mod compatibility is the same as the base mod’s.
Load order
Place it above Long Freight Trains in the Mod Manager. If you put it below, you won’t see the long consists.
Known issues
The author warns it can cause a major FPS drop on some PCs. Just like the base mod, it fills game.log.txt with «Possibly insulting license plate» warnings, which are harmless. The author also clarifies that the mod doesn’t change how railroad crossing gates work.

How to install it
- Subscribe to Long Freight Trains and Very Long Freight Trains on Steam Workshop.
- Launch ATS and open the Mod Manager.
- Enable both mods and place Very Long Freight Trains above Long Freight Trains.
- If you notice stuttering, disable this add-on and stick with the base mod.
