What this mod does
Better Raindrops is one of the most followed rain mods on the SCS forum: its thread has over 280,000 views. Its author, Avelium, has maintained it since 2023, and version 2.1.20 (July 26, 2026) is made for ETS2 1.60.
What it changes
- A new raindrop texture and many more drops on the windshield.
- Drops appear based on the truck’s position relative to the angle of the rain.
- Reworked rain and wiper sounds; since 2.0 the wipers sound different depending on the weather.
- New water spray trails behind cars.
- Built-in cabin sound equalizer, with new reverb and balance.
Add-ons and settings
There’s a separate add-on that swaps the raindrops for snowflakes, designed to be used with Frosty Winter Weather Mod. Volume is adjusted in the game: «rain inside» and wipers under interior sounds, and «rain outside» under world sounds. If you don’t want the sounds or the spray, you can delete their folders inside the mod.
Compatibility and performance
It works with other weather and sound mods if you place it above them. Performance may drop in the rain: the author recommends setting weather graphics to medium or low and reducing traffic with g_traffic 0.5.

Requirements
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.60 (version listed by the author)
- A PC with some headroom: rain with lots of drops is more demanding
How to install it
- Open Avelium's thread on the SCS forum.
- Subscribe on Steam Workshop or download 2.1.20 from the Modsfire link in the thread.
- If you use Frosty or another winter mod, also download the Snowflakes add-on.
- Copy the .scs files to Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod (not needed with Steam).
- In the Mod Manager, place Better Raindrops above your weather and sound mods.
- In Options > Audio, adjust the interior and world volumes to your liking.

Common problems
Is it compatible with other weather mods?
Yes, according to the author, as long as Better Raindrops is above them in the load order.
Does it lower FPS?
It can in the rain. The author recommends lowering weather graphics and using g_traffic 0.5 if needed.
Is there a snow version?
Yes, the Snowflakes add-on (2.1.18) swaps the drops for snowflakes.
Can I remove the new sounds?
Yes: just delete the sound and sound_br folders from the mod.
