What this mod does
New Summer is the summer mod by Grimes, the author of Frosty Winter. It doesn’t change the game’s season: it improves it. Version 6.8 is updated for ETS2 1.61.
What changes
- More varied vegetation with more flowers; low-res trees replaced with high-res models across the whole map.
- Denser grass that’s visible from farther away, with smoother detail transitions and less plant pop-in.
- More realistic lighting and smoother graphics; older areas of the map get new textures.
- Improved rain on the road and windshield, reflections on wet sidewalks and asphalt, and roads that take longer to dry.
What’s new in 6.8
Besides compatibility with 1.61, Grimes has improved fair weather, redone bad weather and tweaked rain and reflections.
Compatibility
It works with ProMods, many other maps and every map DLC. It isn’t compatible with other weather or graphics mods, such as Realistic Brutal Graphics and Weather. Grimes recommends pairing it with his Realistic Rain Reflections add-on for better-looking puddles and wet asphalt.

Requirements

How to install it
- Go to the New Summer page on Grimes's website.
- Choose the free download (ShareMods) or the ad-free $1 one.
- Copy the file to Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod.
- In the Mod Manager, put it at the very top.
- In Graphics, set vegetation detail and grass density to High and enable normal maps, as the author recommends.

Common problems
Does it work with ProMods?
Yes, the author lists it as compatible with ProMods, many other maps and every map DLC.
Can I use it together with Frosty Winter?
Not at the same time: they're season mods by the same author and each one replaces weather and graphics. Enable one or the other.
Does it hurt performance much?
It increases grass density and draw distance; if your PC is on the edge, lower grass density in the options.
