What this mod does
ETS2’s rain falls short on the road: the asphalt barely changes. Realistic Rain Reflections, by Grimes, focuses on just that and leaves the rest of the game untouched, which makes it one of the easiest rain upgrades to add.
What changes
- More realistic wet road textures and reflections, with better reflections at sunrise and sunset in 1.4.
- Puddles and reflections on sidewalks.
- Improved rain and windshield effect, and more polished dark nights.
- Stock truck headlights tweaked so dry asphalt doesn’t look odd at night.
Standalone or the seasons version?
Grimes publishes two variants. This standalone one is for players who don’t use his season mods: you use it on its own or above another weather mod. If you use his season mods, such as New Summer, in ETS2 you should use the seasons version (2.5), placed above them. Neither one works with Frosty Winter.
Recommended settings
Weather quality on Ultra, reflection scaling at 200%, reflection detail on High and normal maps enabled. It’s designed for the game’s stock trucks.

Requirements
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.60 or 1.61
- Graphics settings: weather on Ultra, reflections at 200% and on High, normal maps enabled
How to install it
- Go to the Realistic Rain Reflections Standalone page on Grimes's website.
- Choose the free download (ShareMods) or the ad-free $1 one.
- Copy the file to Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod.
- In the Mod Manager, put it at the very top; if you use another weather mod, always above it.
- Set weather, reflections and normal maps as the author recommends.

Does it work on TruckersMP?
Not for now; the author says maybe in the future.
Does it work with Frosty Winter?
No. Grimes explicitly rules it out.
Can I combine it with other weather mods?
Yes, by placing it above them. It may clash with mods that change road textures.
I use New Summer, which one do I download?
The version for Grimes's season mods (2.5), not this standalone one.
