What this mod does
Dark ETS 2 Background Map, by MossyMuss_, replaces the background of the Euro Truck Simulator 2 in-game map with a dark one that shows country names and their flags. It has over 53,000 subscribers on Steam Workshop.
How to set it up
- The author recommends setting Map alignment to flat.
- If you use other navigation mods, place them above this one in the Mod Manager.
- The author clarifies that the map doesn’t represent any political stance and isn’t meant to offend anyone.
Compatibility
It only works with the SCS map (vanilla) and its DLCs. It does not line up with mod maps like ProMods or Beyond: one player said that with ProMods the roads end up offset, for example in Iceland. The author explained in the comments that a ProMods version was in the works, but the ProMods license doesn’t allow derivative works and the author is building a custom map from scratch, so that version is delayed.
Version
The author doesn’t give a specific version, only that it «should work on any version». The last update was on August 4, 2026. There’s a separate version for American Truck Simulator (Dark ATS Background Map).

Requirements

How to install it
- Open the “Dark ETS 2 Background Map” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- If you use other navigation mods, place them above this one.
- In the game options, set “Map alignment” to flat, as the author recommends.

No. Only with the SCS map; the author is working on a separate version.
